24/11/08
got up super duper early cause i booked an early flight for us. Hopped on a cab to go pick XX first followed by Terence. Then, off we head to the budget terminal. JH & WS shared a cab. There was already a Q at the check-in counter by the time we got there. Luckily JH & WS was there early so, lucky us don't have to join the end of the line.
Checked in. Had breakfast. Board the plane.
Touched down at about Suvarnabhumi Airport later that morning. Again, went thru custom check yada yada yada and then head off to hire the commercial taxi. The limosines are damn freeking overpriced okay.
Situation 1
I gave the airport the address of our destination and we then split into 2 cabs. Then! to my annoyance, she did not gave cabby the address. OMG la. what worst is that, we were split into 2 cabs, that means, Terence, JH & WS wont be able to communicate with the cabby unless well, he can speak english which, proven to be unlikely. Anyway, JH called me on XX's mobile and I gave the cabby the address.
Situation 2
To add to the disturbance, the service apartment that we or rather, I rented just so happened not to have any Thai name. Wha rua, I tell you, I almost kicked myself lo. We resorted to calling the office of the service apartment for directions. Fianlly, managed to get to the right lane. Situation 3 However, the wrong building. Stupid la. The 2 buildings share the same name, House By The Pond. At long last, we managed to get to the right building (which is only a stone throw away) after being guided by the security lady at the other house. Phew~
Checked in. Rested and off we went to start the day.
First shopping destination, Siam Square, akin to Bugis Street in S'pore, just bigger & better.
This is where the young crowd likes to hang out. Guess what we had for our first meal there? ITS FREEKING A & W. -.- We were revenous and A&W came into view.
You know la, already starving, couldn't bother much and off we dashed into the diner.
After finish chomping, SHOPPING!!! HooHoo~~~~
We covered the malls in the vicinity of radius 89513548 sqm. ok. Just kidding, just those nearby ones. XD
The first day of shopping ended after dinner. After we got back to the house, JH & WS decided to go rackie around the neighbourhood so that we can guide the cabby in the next time. Our apartment was quite a distance into the Soi, so yea, that was absolutely necessary and smart of the guys to do so. Glad that they did that ^^
Day 2 was spent pretty much shopping @ places like Retchethewi area. I remembered that morning's breakfast was whoo! We combed the entire street buying as we walked. By the time we went back to the house, there were barely enough room on the table for the food. There were yummies like Fried rice, Hor Fan, BBQ chicken wings, freshly made Soymilk, buns and some local delights. Thinking of this makes me drool. XD
Day 3
We went to Wat Pho for a session of thai massage. It was okay, I thought that it wasnt as good as I went the previous time.
Situation 4 Parted with the guys to meet my sis. They didnt want to come along and partially I didnt want them to. The road was jam packed with traffic and it was damn tough to get a cab lo. Finally after managing to get one, I thought that I was lucky but who knows. That cabby is super dishonest lo. He took me on a 2hours not-so-joyful ride lo. I wasnt contactable by then and my sis got really worried and so, she called Terence. Now the guys got worried as well. Damn cabby! But I should count myself lucky luh huh, that he didnt do anything to harm me, except the damage to my wallet >.<
During my absence, the guys went for a ride on the long tail boat which cost them like, 500 baht each. Hoho~ heng I didnt go but then they went for a feast lor, arrrrrgh! I didnt get to eat those yummies :_(
Day 4
We went to Dreamland and spent pretty much of the day there going on the rides, camwhoring, feeding the animals and playing games. WS won me like 3 plushies but well, I left it in the cab's boot on the way back. Felt kindda guilty. XX spent quite a sum of the games but didnt managed to get anything. That silly goose apologized to me for not winning me anything.
By the time we decided, it was near dusk and the park's pretty much close already.
Instead of heading to shower and rest, we decided to head to SuanLuum night bazzar to continue Shopping!! damn hardcore eh?
Situation 5
By this time, we already confirmed that there's no flight back to SG the next day.
Remember the closure of the Bkk airport due to the protestors protesting outside?
yea. WE GOT STUCK IN BANGKOK.
Day 5
Extended 1 more night at the service apartment and then head down to the Singapore embassy in case anything were to happen to us, at least they do have a record.
Guess what follwed after? YES. Continue shopping. LOL There's nothing else we can do so why not? make full use of the stay there.
Day 6
Still no flight back. by this time, Situation 6 we were all already near broke and decided that we should shift to another hotel. This Royal Princess hotel provides free lodging and food for those stranded in bkk due to the closure of the airport. Cosy room with delicious buffet. Nothing much to ask for already.
Situation 7 Later that night, we went to meet my sis at the Hua Lampong train station in hope to get a train ticket down to HatYai. But well, apparently there wasnt any tickets left until 7/12/08 which is like 1 more week to go.
In the end, we manage to find a tour agency that still has got vacancies on the coach departing to HatYai the next day. After much disscussion, we decided to travel with them.
We THOUGHT we were in luck but you'll never believe what happened.
***************************************************************************************************************
Its 4.52am now and my brains are protesting already. I shall stop here and promise to continue soon. if you think there are only 7 situations that we've encounter during this trip, you are so wrong. It's more eventful that you thought it will be. For now, Nite people.
