Its the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century

Yes. I'm taking about the rare sight that's going to happen today, maybe at the time that I'm typing this post.

What's the big hooha about this occurrence, you might ask. Well, it will only occurs only once in
18 years 11 days 8 hours and that's how many days?
Well, its once in a lifetime. duh. Even marriage thesedays cant be consider as once in a life time.
The next time that this will happen is yr 2132

Ans: 6585⅓ days

Now, how many 18 years have you got? how many of us can live that long?
If you missed it, no worries. Channel U will telecast it tonight @ 11.30pm.
But I reckon it won't do the eclispe justice than seeing it live yea.

Anyway, a lil' knowledge tidbits.

" For an eclipse to occur, either the Moon must be located between the Earth and Sun
(Solar Eclipse) or the Earth must be located between the Sun and Moon (Lunar Eclipse). "

The total solar eclipse today will last for 6mins 39s and like astronomers said, its the longest of the 21st century. The exceptional duration is a result of the moon being near perigee
(orbits around the Earth) , with the apparent diameter of the moon 8% larger than the sun.
